Roger Federer bids for a sixth title at the tournament where he once was a ball-boy, but perhaps all eyes will be on whether Rafael Nadal will be fit enough to make a strong run here, still troubled by appendicitis. Also Stan Wawrinka and Milos Raonic make up the top seeds with Raonic trying a last ditch attempt to get to London after a couple of early defeats have pushed him out of the qualification spots.

We could be forgiven for thinking we have tuned in to the Andy Murray and David Ferrer show as they could meet for the third time in as many weeks in the Valencia semi-final. The pair are in a dog-fight to the finish to qualify for London, and Murray jumped into the qualification slot with his win over the Spaniard in Vienna. But he will be on Ferrer’s home turf, and with two weeks of the tour to go, we could expect to see another grinding encounter.

The Top eight stars of the WTA do battle for the season-ending finals as it makes its debut in Singapore. The World No. 1 ranking could be on the line as Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova lead the two groups. Williams is looking for her third straight title and Sharapova could earn the year-end No. 1 for the first time in her career.
