Tallahassee Tennis Challenger preview

Steven Webb in Challengers 21 Jun 2013
Ryan Harrison won the Savannah Challenger last week.

While the European clay season gathers pace, many lower-ranked players have opted to fine-tune their games on the green courts of Tallahassee, Florida.

In an interesting subplot of the 14th edition of the event, a number of American players will battle it out for a French Open wild card spot. Michael Russell, who once held match points over Gustavo Kuerten in Paris, is the top seed, but he will face stiff competition for the title from compatriots Ryan Harrison, Wayne Odesnik and Jack Sock.

Other players hoping to gain some momentum are one-time hot prospect Donald Young and Britain’s Alex Bogdanovic, now ranked 279 in the world.
