Nadal and Federer celebrate winning the 2017 Laver Cup in one of the most iconic images in the sport

From the Federer-Nadal bromance to bad boys, John McEnroe and Nick Kyrgios doubling up on an umpire, the Laver Cup has served up a lot of wonderful memories over the last couple of seasons- we look back at some of the best moments in the tournament’s short history.

Nadal leaps into Federer’s hands

The concept of Laver Cup continues to split opinions, but there is absolutely no denying that the players treat the event a little bit more than an exhibition. The first edition of the tournament in Prague went down to the wire, with Roger Federer scoring an epic 4-6 7-6 11-9 victory over Nick Kyrgios to give Team Europe the title.

The victory sparked delirious celebrations amongst the Europeans, with the one incident that will reside long in the memory being an ecstatic Rafael Nadal leaping into the hands of his great rival Federer in one of the most iconic scenes ever recorded on a tennis court. Predictable, Social Media went into meltdown...

To be fair, almost every scene featuring Federer and Nadal was absolute gold, so the compilation below might be worth watching...

Team World Celebrations

Team World might have lost the two editions of the Laver Cup, but John McEnroe’s men have added plenty of colour to the tournament with their unique celebrations. There’s a whole catalogue of them- here is a selected few.

McEnroe and Kyrgios vs Umpire

It has not all been mild-mannered and good-natured at the Laver Cup, which is hardly surprising given the presence of John McEnroe and Nick Kyrgios. The inter-generational bad boys joined forces to deliver this epic rant at the poor umpire.

Djokovic tags Federer with a forehand

Two outstanding singles players do not necessarily combine to form the best doubles pair, and there has been no bigger proof of this than the Laver Cup. A year after Rafael Nadal had Roger Federer ducking for cover while shaping violently for an overhead, there was more miscommunication between two of the sport’s greats, as Novak Djokovic tagged doubles partner, Federer with a forehand in the 2018 tournament in Chicago.

Look out for Djokovic's reaction. Epic!

Diego Schwartzman introduces his twin, John Isner

We end with this lovely exchange between Diego Schwartzman and John Isner in the build-up to the 2018 Laver Cup in Chicago, with the 5ft 7in Schwartzman introducing 6ft 10in Isner as his twin, followed by a nice hug. Aaaah, lovely.

The 2019 Laver Cup is live from Geneva from 20-22 September.
