GSM Nadal d. Querrey 7-5, 6-2, 6-2

It will be Federer vs Nadal in the semifinals of Wimbledon - their first meeting since 2008's historic final - on Friday!
18:33 10 Jul

A Wimbledon century for Federer

And no, that's not a reference to how long it feels like it's been since he started winning.

Today's victory made it 100 wins for Federer at Wimbledon - the first man in the Open Era to win 100 matches at any Grand Slam.

18:24 10 Jul

SET Nadal leads Querrey 7-5, 6-2

Nadal made short work of the second set against Querrey, winning over 80% of points behind his first serve and generally brutalizing the American off the ground.

Like we said - one set from 'Fedal'.
18:22 10 Jul

GSM Federer d. Nishikori 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4

Federer serves the match out to love to reach the Wimbledon semifinals once more!

We are one set away from a Federer-Nadal semifinal ...
18:17 10 Jul

Federer breaks & will serve for the match

Nishikori gets to 30-30 on Federer's serve at 3-4, but when he presses his backhand long, it has the feeling of a last chance allowed to slip through one's fingers and the second seed goes on to hold.

At 4-4, Nishikori double-faults for 15-30, then can't find a first serve and Federer maneouvres him easily into a forehand error. Nishikori saves one break point - but on the second, he drifts long in a lengthy forehand exchange and challenges to no avail.
18:02 10 Jul

Nishikori holds from 15-40 to lead 3-2

Down 15-40, Nishikori just about saves himself with a drop shot and Federer could have done more on the return on the next point.

Federer erases game point with a clean return winner for deuce, but Nishikori keeps serving his way out of trouble. Sooner or later all this pressure on his serve has to tell, though, surely?
17:58 10 Jul

Nadal breaks to lead 2-1 in the second

Nadal hit a gorgeous backhand passing shot to open up a 0-15 foothold on Querrey's serve at 1-1, then follows it with a vicious forehand for 0-30 - and moments later, he's broken to take a firm grip on this match.
17:54 10 Jul

Nishikori saves break point for 2-1

Federr has break point in the third game of the fourth set - it's vital for Nishikori to hold his ground in these early games if he's to have any hope of pushing it to five.

And he makes a strong finish to the game to keep it on serve in the fourth.
17:42 10 Jul

SET Nadal leads Querrey 7-5

Nadal broke back in a game where Querrey lived and died on whether or not he could find first serves nd is serving for the set at 6-5 - but he's down 0-30.

Querrey can't convert on three break points, however, and Nadal closes it out for a 7-5 lead!
17:39 10 Jul

SET Federer leads Nishikori 4-6, 6-1, 6-4

Federer saves break point as he tries to close out the set, but a framed forehand long pegs him back to deuce.

Nishikori nets a slice approach, however, and Federer closes out the third set on his second opportunity.
17:25 10 Jul

Querrey saves three set points and holds for 4-5

Nadal brings up two set points when Querrey fails to clear the net with a forehand, but Querrey saves the first with an ace out wide, ad then a second with a beautiful drop shot- lovely touch from the big man

Not so lovely that as he double faults to give up another set point, but he he wipes it out with an ace

The big American goes on to hold, but Nadal will serve for the set. Next.
17:20 10 Jul

Nadal saves break point and holds for 5-3

First bit of duress for Nadal on serve, but the two-time champion saves a break point with an returnable first serve before going on to hold via multiple deuces.

Nadal had not lost a point on serve before that last service game.
17:11 10 Jul

Nishikori leads Federer 2-1 in Set 3, on serve

You get the feeling Kei Nishikori is just hanging on at the moment, but he holds again to edge into a 2-1 lead in the third set...

He has not got near Federer's serve for some time now...
17:05 10 Jul

Nishikori saves break point and holds to open the third set 6-4 1-6 1-0

Vital hold from Nishikori to start the third set, as the Japanese wriggles through a lengthy game to take the lead.
16:59 10 Jul

Nadal breaks! 2-1

Three games gone, and the fist pumps are already out. Rightly so too, as the great Spaniard breaks with a stupendous forehand pass from deep behind the baseline!
16:54 10 Jul

Second Set Federer 4-6 6-1

Federer cleans up his game, and rolls through the second set to even the match.

Has Nishikori got a response? The Japanese pops off for a quick toilet break...
16:50 10 Jul

Federer breaks again, and is serving for the second set 4-6 5-1

He's been like a runaway train in this set, Federer, and Nishikori has got no answers...
16:47 10 Jul

Nadal vs Querrey live now...

World No. 2, Rafael Nadal is on Court 1, set to take on big-serving American, Sam Querrey...

Nadal has been in excellent form in the last 10 days, powering into the quarter finals without dropping a set. He has not faced a break point since the second set of his second round match against Nick Kyrgios...

Former semi-finalist, Sam Querrey has also been playing well on grass- a finalist in Eastbourne, and now a quarter finalist at Wimbledon for the third time in four years...

Nadal leads 4-1 on head-to-head, but Querrey won their most recent meeting in Acapulco in 2017.

Can Rafa advance to back-to-back Wimbledon semi-finals?
16:40 10 Jul

Federer consolidates to lead 3-0 in second set

Terrific riposte from Federer here- he's taken this set by the scruff of the neck, and glided to a 3-0 lead.
16:38 10 Jul

Federer gets the early break in the second set! 4-6 2-0

Here he comes...

Federer carves out a 0-40 lead on Nishikori's serve and he clinches the break with a smooth inside-in forehand winner!

Don't get him angry...
16:26 10 Jul

Nishikori takes the first set against Federer! 6-4

Nishikori is on top of the first point, and a series of heavy forehands finally get the error, 15-0...

Oh. Serve and Volley. Make that 30-0...

A cracking backhand return sets up a Federer overhead... 30-15... Nishikori unloads on the forehand wing again, but he miscues one into the tramlines... 30-30. Bad bad miss...

The Japanese makes up for that with a brilliant point next up, following a backhand slice approach into the net to put away a fine volley, and he closes out the set with more precise hitting, too good for Federer.

Game on on Centre Court!
16:25 10 Jul

Federer holds, but Nishikori will serve for the first set 5-4

Moment of truth for Nishikori- can he close this out?
16:19 10 Jul

Bautista-Agut through to first Grand Slam semi-final

Roberto Bautista-Agut is beats Guido Pella 7-5 6-4 3-6 6-3 to move into the Wimbledon semi-finals- his first Grand Slam semi-final.

What a moment for the Spaniard- he has worked very hard for this, and he absolutely deserves it.

He will play Novak Djokovic in the last four.
16:12 10 Jul

Serena and Murray beaten ay Wimbledon 6-3 4-6 6-2

It was fun while it lasted, but Serena Williams and Andy Murray are out of the mixed doubles after a 6-3 4-6 6-2 loss to top seeds, Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar.
15:59 10 Jul

Bautista-Agut leads Pella 7-6 6-4 3-6 4-1

Fine response from Bautista-Agut to dropping that third set- the Spaniard has opened up a 4-1 lead in the fourth set to move within two games of a spot in a maiden Grand Slam semi-final.
15:56 10 Jul

Federer battles back from 0-40 and holds for 1-2

Kei Nishikori is eyeing a double break as he opens up a 0-40 lead, but Federer hits back with five straight points, sealing the hold with an ace down the T.

Huge hold for the Swiss there...
15:51 10 Jul

Serena and Murray trail by a double break in the third set 6-3 4-6 3-0

Bruno Soares produces a sharp volley to pinch a second break of the set, and put the Brazilian-American combination three games away from the quarter finals...

Is the dream pairing about to be knocked out?
15:47 10 Jul

Roger Federer on Centre Court

The great Roger Federer is continuing his quest for a ninth Wimbledon title, taking on Kei Nishikori in the quarter finals...

Oh, there's a start!

Nishikori on the attack in the opening game, and he breaks with a forehand volley!

Now then...
15:44 10 Jul

Serena and Murray take second set! 3-6 6-4

Soares double faults on a second set point to give SerAndy the second set!

Going the distance!
15:38 10 Jul

Pella takes third set against Bautista-Agut 5-7 4-6 6-3

We have seen this before, haven't we?

Guido Pella is on the comeback trail once again as he takes the third set against Roberto Bautista-Agut.

Surely not again, no? He can't win in five?
15:33 10 Jul

Serena holds to put SerAndy into a 4-3 lead in the second set

SerAndy still very much alive as Serena holds to open up a 4-3 lead for her team. Can they break in the next game?
15:30 10 Jul

Serena and Murray on serve in the second set 3-6 3-3

Hint of a break for SerAndy as they get to deuce but Soares and Melichar fend off the danger to hold for 3-3.

15:21 10 Jul

Pella fighting back against Bautista-Agut 5-7 4-6 5-2

Guido Pella is no stranger to coming back from two-sets down at Wimbledon- is the Argentine about to produce another comeback?

He wins an absolutely sensational point- full of drop shots, lobs and volleys to open up a 5-2 lead against Roberto Bautista-Agut.
15:12 10 Jul

Serena and Murray drop opening set 3-6

Not going according to plan for SerAndy as they drop the first set against top seeds, Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar.
15:07 10 Jul

Djokovic through to Wimbledon semi-finals

Another brilliant performance from the world No. 1, probably his best of the tournament.

Goffin threatened to make it competitive when he broke for 4-3 in the first set, but Djokovic claimed 15 of the next 17 games to complete a dominant victory.

He'll play Pella or Bautista-Agut in the last four.
15:00 10 Jul

Bautista-Agut two sets up on Pella 7-5 6-4 0-1

It's been another rock solid performance from Bautista-Agut, who is two sets up on Guido Pella. Closing in on a maiden Grand Slam semi-final...
14:54 10 Jul

Djokovic saves two break points and holds for 4-1 in the third set

Huge roar from Djokovic as he fends off two break points and extends his lead to 4-1.

The defending champion is two games away from another Wimbledon semi-final...
14:40 10 Jul

Serena and Murray on Court...

There they are- Andy Murray and Serena Williams on court again...

They are taking on the top seed Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar in the Round of 16 of the Mixed Doubles...
14:34 10 Jul

Bautista-Agut leads Pella 7-5 4-2

Roberto Bautista-Agut is looking very good in his quarter final against, leading Guido Pella by a set and a break...
14:29 10 Jul

Djokovic bagels Goffin in second set 6-4 6-0

Goffin saves two set points with two forehand winners, but Djokovic is relentless, and he finally closes out the set with the set on his third set point, putting away an overhead.

Nine straight games for the world No. 1.
14:16 10 Jul

Djokovic leads Goffin 6-4 4-0

Another break for Djokovic, and it's all going pear-shaped for Goffin...
14:12 10 Jul

Djokovic leads David Goffin 6-4 3-0

It wasn't long ago that Novak Djokovic trailed by a break in the first set, but the world No. 1 has won six games in a row to open up a set and a break lead.
14:09 10 Jul

Bautista-Agut takes the first set 7-5

Bautista-Agut holds to love to take the first set!
14:00 10 Jul

Pella back on serve with RBA

After trailing by a break, Pella gets himself back on level terms with Bautista Agut, but can't break the Spaniard to take the set - Bautista Agut with an excellent hold to love for 5-5.
13:53 10 Jul

SET Djokovic leads Goffin 6-4

Not a great start as Goffin goes 0-15 down, but he finds a nice sequence of forehands to level for 15-15.

Djokovic builds the point beautifully to get himself into net and finishes off with a perfect volley for 15-30, however, and Goffin buries a forehand in the net for 15-40.

Goffin misses a backhand down the line, and that's all she wrote.
13:44 10 Jul

Goffin broken back, Djokovic leads 5-4

Can Goffin consolidate this break? He's up 30-0, but double faults after an unsuccessful challenge, and then suddenly it's 30-30 as he overpresses on a first forehand.

Forehand duel at 30-30 and Djokovic's is called wide, the umpire overrules and Goffin challenges - it was on the line.

Goffin nearly scuppers himself by playing the drive volley back at Djokovic but saves himself with a deft volley - only for Djokovic to break back and level at 4-4 with a forehand passing shot.

He then holds to 15 with crisp serving, sealed with an ace. 'You're not getting near this one, mate.'
13:41 10 Jul

Goffin breaks for 4-3

Goffin continues to take a very aggressive approach in his return games, and finally it pays off at 3-3 as the Belgian presses forward into the court to force a forehand error wide from the Serb!

Djokovic buries his face in his towel for several long, hard-breathing moments.
13:30 10 Jul

Djokovic holds from 15-30 for 3-2

Goffin is once again being the aggressor on Djokovic's serve at 2-2 and gets a toehold for 15-30, then has a chance to set up break point as he attacks the net behind a brilliant forehand down the line, but just can't quite get the volley over the net.

Game Djokovic with a service winner.
13:28 10 Jul

RBA up an early break on Pella

Surprise quarterfinalist Bautista Agut has the early lead on even more surprising quarterfinalist Guido Pella but the Argentine - who's developed a surprising specialism in upsetting big-serving former Wimbledon finalists - manages to avoid going down a double break, saving break point at 1-3 and holding for 2-3.
13:16 10 Jul

Djokovic saves 2 break points, holds for 2-1

Goffin impresses with a backhand winner up the line off Djokovic's approach shot for 0-15 as the Serb serves for the second time, then takes advantage of a second serve to press in to net, spreading the point and closing with a deft forehand volley for 15-30.

Real depth from Djokovic on his groundstrokes gets Goffin on the back foot for 30-30, however, and Djokovic showcases lightning foot speed to chase down the Belgian's drop shot for a winner. He raises his fist to his box and roars, showing he's engaged in this from the very first ...

But a testing shot from Goffin at deuce gets a volley error from Djokovic for the Belgian's first point to break. Djokovic snuffs it out with a pin-point accurate V-play for deuce #2, but comes off worst on a cross-court forehand exchange as Goffin really injects pace - but saves a second break point with a big serve for deuce #3.

Consecutive forehands in the net see Djokovic hold.
13:08 10 Jul

Djokovic vs Goffin: The H2H

Novak Djokovic has a commanding lead which reflects the function David Goffin has served for much of his career - a player who, at least since 2014 when he elevated himself from under-achiever status, has been excellent at beating the players ranked below him but has rarely posed a threat to the Big Three/Four.

'Rarely' doesn't mean 'never', though. He has beaten the biggest players, most notably Federer and Nadal on his way to the final of the ATP Finals in 2017, and he has beaten Djokovic too, on clay in Monte Carlo in 2017. But that was during Djokovic's dark night of the soul/elbow, and the Serb still leads the head-to-head 7-1.

The Belgian pushes to deuce as Djokovic serves to open, but the Serb holds with a service winner.
13:00 10 Jul

Players taking the court for the men's QFs

Novak Djokovic cracks his knuckles in the background while David Goffin stretches his neck. It's a nervous wait for a few moments - but then out they come into the sunshine of Centre Court to warm applause.

Guido Pella and Roberto Bautista Agut are out on No. 1 Court, as well.
12:40 10 Jul

Who has the biggest chance of causing an upset today?

We've got the Big Three, who have each dropped precisely one set coming into the quarterfinals and who absolutely trounced their respective opponents in the fourth round, and we've got a trio of opponents who on the face of it, look like the considerable underdogs - David Goffin trying to take down Novak Djokovic, Sam Querrey up against Rafael Nadal and Kei Nishikori (who apparently has a cold, fun fact) taking on Roger Federer.

But, as an eagle-eyed tennis podcast have pointed out, there's a twist:

Who do you think has the best chance of taking out a member of the Big Three today? Surely it must be big-serving Sam Querrey, a former Wimbledon semifinalist?

Recap: Day 8

The women (and one horror of a male journalist) took centre stage (and Centre Court) on day 8 of Wimbledon. Here's the headlines:

- Business bun: Serena Williams battled past a determined Alison Riske in three sets to book her place in the semifinals. (She also absolutely shredded Fabrice Martin's serve and carried Andy Murray to a mixed doubles win. It's not in the article but it was awesome.)

- An under-the-radar Elina Svitolina broke through to the semifinals of a Grand Slam for the first time with a grinding win over the talented Karolina Muchova

- 'Please don't patronise me': Johanna Konta defended herself against 'disrespectful' questioning from the aforementioned horror, following her defeat to Barbora Strycova

12:12 10 Jul

Fedal attraction

Here's the million-dollar question today: Will Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both win their quarterfinals, thus setting up a semifinal clash which would be their first meeting at Wimbledon since the 2008 final, also known as the greatest tennis match of all time?

And if they do, how many of you will be taking a sickie on Friday to watch it?
12:06 10 Jul

Wimbledon 2019 live blog: Day nine!

Roll up, roll up, it's second Wednesday at Wimbledon and that can only mean one thing: Men's quarterfinals day!

It's going to be a Big Three type of day from 1pm BST, with Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal all aiming to book their places in the semifinals, to be joined by the winner of Roberto Bautista Agut and Guido Pella.

We've also got Andy Murray/Serena Williams ('Murrena') mixed doubles to look forward to.

It's going to be another big day - please join us! We'll be here with rolling updates, live scores, commentary and analysis throughout those five matches.

(geo restrictions apply; funded account required or to have placed a bet in the last 24 hours to qualify)

It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen Federer and Nadal square off on the lawns of Wimbledon, with their last match coming in that epic 2008 final, which is widely regarded as the greatest match of all time, but by the end of the day, we could have another ‘Fedal’ showdown pencilled in for Friday at The Championships.

That’s, of course, provided they both make it through their respective quarter-finals unscathed. Federer brings a 7-3 record into his last-eight contest with Kei Nishikori, but the Japanese did win their last encounter - in London no less - at the Nitto ATP Finals at the end of last season. Nishikori also comes into this quarter-final fresh and with no taxing five-setters under his belt, which is in deep contrast to his previous two quarter-final appearances at the slams in 2019. Federer’s confidence is sky-high after his thumping win over Matteo Berrettini, but this might just turn into a big battle for the Swiss, who is also aiming to become the first man in history to win 100 matches at a Grand Slam tournament.

Nadal meanwhile is tasked with taking down the big-serving Sam Querrey. The American has taken some enormous scalps at Wimbledon over the last few years, including beating Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray - does he have another big victory in him? Nadal has won four of their five previous meetings, but Querrey did emerge triumphant in straight sets in their last clash in the 2017 Acapulco final - and if he can bring the sort of tennis he produced that day to No. 1 Court on Wednesday, he could ask some serious questions of the Spaniard.

Novak Djokovic launches the Centre Court action before Federer vs Nishikori when he comes up against David Goffin. The Belgian has been showcasing some resurgent form on the grass, reminiscent of his top 10 days from a couple of seasons ago, but does Goffin have the weapons to hit through Djokovic?

And what a chance for both Roberto Bautista Agut and Guido Pella to make a first major semi-final? Pella has been on a devastating run of knocking out big-serving former Wimbledon finalists this tournament, beating Milos Raonic, Kevin Anderson and Marin Cilic, while Bautista Agut is yet to drop a set and is in ominous form.

Doubles action also continues around the grounds - including Andy Murray and Serena Williams, who are scheduled to play third on No. 2 Court.

It will of course be another unmissable day of tennis from Wimbledon - join us from around the grounds from first point to last as we bring you all the latest live scores, results, breaking news and more!
