Can Anna Tatishvili win today?

The second round of fixtures from the 2016 WTA Bogota will continue on Thursday, April 14 with Lourdes Dominguez Lino and Anna Tatishvili heading the draw.

Seventh seed Lino of Spain will take on American Sachia Vickery in the second fixture of the day at the campo estadio. Lino beat Patricia Maria Tig in three sets in the first round here. She had lost the first set but came back strongly to claim the next two sets and the match to proceed into the second round. The Spaniard came into this tournament on the backs of a third round exit from the WTA Charleston last week.

Vickery beat Yuliana Lizarazo in the first round in straight sets here. She had come into the tournament on the backs of successive failures where she was unable to make the main draw at the Mexican Open, the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Masters.

The two ladies have met twice in the past and each of them have had some success against each other. Their last meeting came at the qualification stages of the Miami Masters earlier this year where Lino had gone on to defeat the American. A similar outcome could present itself on Thursday.

Eighth seeded American Tatishvili will play Silvia Soler-Espinosa in the first contest of the day at the campo estadio. Espinosa beat Tereza Martincova in straight sets in the first round here. Prior to this tournament, she was unable to make it to the main draw at the Mexican Open, the WTA Monterrey, the 50k event in Osprey, and the WTA Charleston.

Tatishvili took on Ipek Soylu in the first round here and defeated her in straight sets. The American had failed to make it to the main draw at the WTA Charleston but had featured in the main draw for the Miami Masters where she was defeated in the first round by Timea Babos.

These two ladies have met twice in the past with both winning once each. Their last meeting came at the 2012 WTA Bastad where Espinosa beat Tatishvili in three sets.
