Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro contest the US Open final on Saturday, with Djokovic seeking his third title at the tournament, while Juan Martin del Potro attempts to win the New York for the second time in his career- a first since that stunning triumph in 2009.

Djokovic has has the upper-hand in this match-up, winning 14 of their 18 previous matches, including the last three. The Serbian has improved through the US Open draw- he was taken to four sets in each of his first two matches, against Marton Fucsovics and Tennys Sandgren, but he is yet to drop a set since then, moving past Richard Gasquet, Joao Sousa, John Millman and Kei Nishikori in straight sets. The former world number one is seeking a 14th Grand Slam title, which would move him to third, level with Pete Sampras on the all-time list. After struggling for a year with an elbow problem, which required surgery in January, Djokovic has been the man-in-form on the tour over the last couple of months, winning Wimbledon and Cincinnati, and now standing on the brink of the US Open title.

Del Potro has also had his injury problems, but the Argentine has been fit for most of the season, and accordingly, he has surged up to a career-high ranking of No. 3. One wonders what might have been if the big Argentine hadn't had all those wrist problems. Del Potro is into his first Grand Slam final since that 2009 US Open triumph, following a dominant tournament during which he has dropped only one set- against John Isner in the quarter finals. The Argentine moved past Rafael Nadal in his semi-finals, after his Spanish opponent retired hurt, while tailing by two sets to love.

Ahead of the 2018 US Open final between del Potro and Djokovic, we check out how both players stack up against each other!
