3-3 at the change of ends

Federer finds a first serve on the first point, and draws an error from Djokovic, and the Swiss almost slices and spins his way to a mini-break, but he is repelled by some outstanding Djokovic defending...

Federer is again in charge of the next point, again mixing the slice backhand with the topspin, and getting Djokovic out of position, but he misses with a forehand pass and trails 2-1, still on serve in the breaker

Djokovic gets the first mini break as Federer sends a backhand over the baseline, but the Swiss produced an ace to get back to 3-2, and a backhand down the line winner to wrestle back the mini break... 3-3...

Djokovic holds to love! 6-6. Tie break

14:53 14 Jul

Federer holds from 15-30... 6-5... Quality contest...

Now a chance for Djokovic as he chases down a floaty drop shot to put away a backhand winner for 15-30...

Sensational backhand down the line is too good for Djokovic as the Swiss gets back to 30-30...

A serve-forehand combination helps the Swiss to 40-30, but a double fault of the match keeps Djokovic in the game, deuce...

A ridiculously good return from Djokovic is matched by an equally ridiculous inside-in forehand winner from Federer as the Swiss gets another game point, and he closes out the tough hold when Djokovic errs under the pressure of a net-charging Federer.

This has been a brilliant contest.

Djokovic, again, must hold to stay in the set...
14:47 14 Jul

Djokovic battles back from 0-30 to hold and stay in the set 5-5

Brilliant first point. Forehand into the corner softens Djokovic up, drop shot drags the Serbian forward, and Federer finishes with an easy volley 0-15...

A similar combination- heavy forehand into the corner followed by a drop shot winner... 0-30- Federer's two points away from the set...

Djokovic finds a timely ace to halve the deficit, and another big first serve sets up a short backhand winner for the world No. 1. 30-30...

The first serve finds its mark again as Djokovic moves to 40-30, but a double fault drags the champion back to deuce...

Federer angles a backhand just wide to give up game point, and Djokovic gets out of a difficult game after an errant Federer forehand.
14:43 14 Jul

Federer holds, Djokovic to serve to stay in the first set at 4-5

Federer punctuates a crisp exchange with a forehand down the line to open; another forehand winner gets him to 30-0- make that 40-0 as the Swiss' serve kisses the back of the line...

Back comes Djokovic as he pummels a forehand return to reach 40-30, but Federer's having none of that- the eight-time champion bangs an ace down the T to open up a 5-4 lead.

Djokovic will serve to stay in the first set...
14:40 14 Jul

Djokovic holds for 4-4

A supreme backhand pass gets Djokovic to 30-0, but Federer chips and charges his way to 30-15, but he slices a backhand return into the net as Djokovic reaches 40-15...

Djokovic closes the game with an overhead winner after brilliantly turning defence into offence earlier in the point...
14:38 14 Jul

Federer holds 4-3

Magic at the net from Federer, as he wins three consecutive points in the forecourt to sprint to a hold to love.

High quality start to this contest.
14:34 14 Jul

Djokovic holds 3-3

A more routine hold for Djokovic as the Serbian evens the score.
14:30 14 Jul

Federer fights back from 0-30 and holds for the 3-2 lead

Trouble for Federer as he miscues a couple of forehands to fall into a 0-30 hole, but the Swiss fights back with three first serves, before closing out the game with a wrong-footing forehand down the line which Djokovic does well to even get a racket to.
14:21 14 Jul

Djokovic saves break point and holds for 2-2

Djokovic double faults to open the game, but the Serbian reached 15-15 after winning another full blooded exchange. Federer twice errs off the forehand to give Djokovic two game points, but he finds his radar on that wing to produce a sumptuous winner down the line...

Hmmmnn... Deuce for Federer as Djokovic overcooks a backhand, but the world No. 1 produces an unreturnable first serve to bring up a third game point...

Federer drags Djokovic forward with a short backhand return and picks him off at the net with another fine forehand winner, but Djokovic yet again moves within a point of the game with a big first serve...

Federer isn't done yet as another cracking forehand down the line gets him to deuce for the third time in the game...

There's the first break point of the match as Djokovic uncomfortably pushes a backhand wide after another short Federer backhand slice...

Oooohhh... Big chance missed as Federer misses wildly on the forehand after setting up the point beautifully with a series of biting slice backhands...

Djokovic puts away a backhand winner to bring up game point, and he finally bags the game with a heavy crosscourt backhand.

Intriguing tactical battle so far...
14:15 14 Jul

Federer holds 2-1

The first real violent exchange of the match ends with a Djokovic forehand winner for the opening point of the game. Federer gets to 15-15 of a cheap Djokovic error.

The Swiss finds two first serves to reach 40-15, and he converts the second of the game points to edge into a 2-1 lead.

Note from that game: Federer doesn't want to get into those long exchanges with Djokovic. But we knew that before, didn't we?
14:13 14 Jul

Federer vs Djokovic 1-1

Four errors from Federer, and that's a hold to love for Djokovic.
14:10 14 Jul

Federer vs Djokovic 1-0

Federer begins with an ace out wide- a Djokovic error gets the Swiss to 30-0. 30-15 as Federer commits his first unforced error of the match...

Federer brings up game point with an ace down the middle, and he wraps up the opening game with a forehand winner.

Super solid start from the great Swiss.

Djokovic gunning for Federer's records

Roger Federer holds the record for most Grand Slam men's singles title- with 20- but he is under some intense pressure from rivals, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who sit on 18 and 15 majors respectively.

Djokovic has set his sights on not only surpassing Federer's Grand Slam record, but he is also targeting the Swiss record for most weeks at No. 1. The Serbian has spent a cumulative 260 weeks at No. 1, 50 weeks off Federer's record of 310.

From yesterday- Sensational Halep stuns Serena to win first Wimbledon title

The women's singles title, of course, was decided on Saturday, with Simona Halep taking apart Serena Williams to claim her first Wimbledon title.

The Romanian delivered 'the greatest match of her live' to take down Williams 6-2 6-2, becoming the first woman from her country to win the Wimbledon title.

Another heartbreaking Grand Slam final defeat for Serena, whose wait for that record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title continues...

Wimbledon 2019 Live Blog: Men's Final!

For one final time we bid you a very warm welcome to our Wimbledon live blog, with the men's singles champion set to emerge in the next few hours.

No real surprises in the identities of the finalists, as defending champion and world No. 1, Novak Djokovic takes on on the man who has got more Wimbledon titles than any other man in the history of this great sport, Roger Federer.

It's the 48th meeting between the two legends, with Djokovic holding a 25-22 lead. The Serbian has also won the last four meetings between the pair, and their two previous Wimbledon finals.

Djokovic favourite for the title?

Join the live updates from 2pm BST as Roger Federer attempts to dethrone defending champion Novak Djokovic in a men's final which should provide the dream conclusion to a thrilling fortnight at the All-England Club.

Simona Halep has lifted the Venus Rosewater Dish after a stunning 6-2, 6-2 victory over Serena Williams in the women's final on Saturday, but who will be dancing with the Romanian at the champions' ball on Sunday night?

The top two seeds and the two most successful Wimbledon players of the current era face off for the title in what will be the forty-eighth installment of a rivalry which, while perhaps not quite as crowd-pleasing as that of Federer vs Rafael Nadal, continues to both provide entertaining matches and define the modern landscape of men's tennis.

Djokovic is looking for his fourth title in the last five majors, continuing his latest period of dominance which began with his victory over Kevin Anderson in last year's men's singles final and saw him go on to win the US and Australian Opens before his winning run was temporarily stopped by Dominic Thiem in the semifinals of the French Open. The supreme Serb and world no. 1 is looking for his sixteenth Grand Slam title, which would see him further close the gap on Nadal's current total of 18, and his fifth Wimbledon title after winning in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2018, which would see him tie Bjorn Borg for third place on the Open Era winners' list.

In time-honoured style, Djokovic has been looking better and better with each match he's played at The Championships 2019. Coming in without having played a warm-up tournament, he dropped a set in the second round to the talented, big-serving Pole Hubert Hurkacz, but by the quarterfinals was playing some of his best tennis, as we saw in his superb 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 demolition of David Goffin who performed about as well as he could have done. In the semifinals, Djokovic ousted Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to book his place in a twenty-fifth Grand Slam final - and set an Open Era record, with Federer, for most matches at Grand Slam level, eclipsing the 15 Djokovic and Nadal have played.

Federer indisputably had the tougher semifinal, as the eight-time champion took on his great rival Nadal and emerged triumphant after three hours and six minutes. Federer was twice a mini-break down in the first set tie-break but won the last five points of it to take the opening frame, and surged back from losing a one-sided second set to win the third and fourth in dominant style, even managing to snuff out a late rally from Nadal as Federer served for the match. Federer is looking to extend both his Open Era record of most Grand Slam titles, from 20 to 21, and his record of most Wimbledon titles from eight to nine.

Djokovic not only has a 25-22 lead in the overall head-to-head, but has won five of the last six matches he and Federer have played, and beat him in the finals of Wimbledon in 2014 and 2015 in five and four sets respectively, so Federer has his work cut out for him. But the great Swiss did prove, with his brilliant win over Nadal, that his attacking style of tennis can still work on the grass at SW19 even when he's up against a supreme defender. Can the 37-year-old turn the clock back for one more moment of glory at SW19 or will Djokovic continue to excel?
