Federer-conqueror Thanasi Kokkinakis was knocked out of the Miami Open in the third round. The 21-year old was defeated by Verdasco despite winning the first set 3-6 6-4 7-6(4).

The dramatic encounter featured a few intense exchanges - most notably a verbal discourse which occurred during a sit-down, when Kokkinakis confronted Verdasco about a comment made towards his box.

The Spaniard then expressed his dismay about the noise coming from the youngster's box between first and second serves, and let's just say the hostility between both men was palpable to say the least.

Fellow Aussie and good friend Kyrgios quickly took to Twitter following the incident to say, "I hope TK wins this match, Verdasco is the saltiest dude, must be frustrated at his past success against aussies"
Though Kyrgios later deleted the post, the 17th seed made it very clear that he stood by what he said and 'would honestly have told it to Fernando's face'.

Both Kyrgios and Verdasco could meet in the Miami Open final. If they both win their next three matches, they'll face off for bragging rights and the biggest title of their respective careers.

Oh the drama...
