Stefanos Tsitsipas joined Dominic Thiem as the second player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals semi-finals on Wednesday night after easing past defending champion Alexander Zverev in straight sets.

Tsitsipas, who is making his debut at the season-ending championships this week, backed up his big win over Daniil Medvedev by swatting aside Zverev, dropping just five games in a convincing 6-3 6-2 triumph.

The 21-year-old is the only player yet to drop a set at the ATP Finals as he completed his fourth straight victory over Zverev in dominant fashion.

“It's really good to know that I'll be playing in the semi-finals, but I've got to concentrate, keep going the way I have been doing things the last couple of days,” Tsitsipas said.
“I always find an extra motivation, an extra reason to play well against the top guys. I consider Sascha also being of this part of this elite group,” he added.

Tsitsipas will face World No. 1 Rafael Nadal for the chance to go 3-0 in Group Andre Agassi. The Greek trails their head-to-head 4-1, but did score a big win over Nadal at the Madrid Masters earlier this season.

Nadal will be more determined than ever to emerge triumphant after keeping his chances for a first ATP Finals title alive with a stirring comeback victory over Medvedev earlier on Wednesday, while he can also prevent Novak Djokovic from finishing as the year-end World No. 1 by reaching the final.

Tsitsipas says he’s ready for the challenge as he searches for his second win over a World No. 1 this season.

“I’m going to give it my all. I'm going to try to give my soul, and I think it's also a very good challenge for me in order to prepare for more difficult matches in the semi-finals and the finals, potentially,” Tsitsipas said.
“So this match is going to give me a lot. It's going to educate me, and I'm going to try to get and absorb as much as I can from that.”
