Serena is practicing and ready to make her return at the 2018 Australian Open

Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley has said there's 'no question' that Serena Williams will be ready for next month's Australian Open where she is the defending champion.

"She's got her visa, she's entered, she's practising", Tiley affirmed while speaking to the Herald Sun ahead of the first Grand Slam of the new season.

"There's no question she will be ready in our view" he added.

It has been an eventful last four months for the 23-time major champion - she gave birth to daughter Alexia in September and tied the knot with Reddit Co-founder Alexis Ohanian in a lavish New Orleans ceremony last month.

The former World No.1 has since made her first public appearance on a tennis court with sister Venus at a charity event for their foundation, the Yetunde Price Resource Center - raising awareness about violence in the D.C metro area.

Serena has won the Australian Open seven times and is just one title away from equaling Margaret Court's record of 24 major titles.
