Great Britain secured promotion to World Group II after victories for Johanna Konta and Katie Boulter in Sunday's reverse singles.

Johanna Konta and Katie Boulter won their reverse singles on Sunday to give Great Britain a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan in their World Group II play-off, ending the country's 26-year wait for promotion.

Victory was achieved the hard way, as both Konta and Boulter fought back from deficits to secure three-set wins over Yulia Putintseva and Zarina Diyas respectively. Konta dropped the first set against Putintseva, and trailed 4-1 in the final set, but the British No. 1 produced a rousing finish, winning the final four games to pull off a 4-6 6-2 7-5 victory after two hours and 24 minutes. That gave Boulter the chance to finish the tie in the second of Sunday's reverse singles, but the opportunity appeared to be slipping away when she trailed by a set and a break. However, the 22-year-old hit back to take the second set before dominating the final set to complete a 6-7 6-4 6-1 victory, sparking wild celebrations as Great Britain confirmed their return to World Group II.
