ATP S’Hertogenbosch Tips, Analysis & Preview | Our Picks For This Week’s Preview

Andy Watson in Tennis Betting Tips 13 Jun 2023

The Libema Open is one of the traditional curtain raiser’s for the grass court season and always attracts a good field to the event. 2023 is no different on that score.

The former world number one Daniil Medvedev heads up the entry list here.

ATP S’Hertogenbosch Betting Tips

Alex De Minaur 1pt @ 10/1 with Bet365

The beginning of an Aussie heavy set of picks for this tournament. Australians tend to be quite good at grass court tennis as they have a fair number of clubs that have grass facilities themselves.

De Minaur hasn’t really kicked on from what was a good start to his ATP career, but he is one of the few in the field with both a positive win/loss record in 2023 and also in his career on grass. Indeed, his games won ratio is 4th in the field for 2023, and 3rd in the field for grass court tennis.

His price is slightly out of line for that record, and also the fact that his section of the draw is fairly weak as well.

Brandon Nakashima 1pt @ 16/1 with Bet365

Nakashima has a fabulous grass court record, albeit off a small sample size. Across his 21 professional matches on the surface he has held serve over 90% of the time. Only Milos Raonic in this field can match that.

The young American has had a pretty poor season on the main tour though, but that is considered into his price. Jannik Sinner is the main seed in his section of the draw and the Italian doesn’t have either recent form or grass court pedigree on his side and could be vulnerable here, especially if Nakashima can keep his serving at the level seen previously.

Rinky Hijikata 0.25pt @ 40/1 with Bet365

Hijikata is a lucky loser in the draw but he has indeed been very lucky with his placement. He lands in a section in which no-one other than Borna Coric has a better recent form figure than himself, despite his only being 40%. Coric himself has a losing record on grass, so he is a seed we would want to get after. The price is a tempter for someone in such a weak section of the draw.

Jordan Thompson 0.25pt @ 50/1 with Bet365

A third Aussie in four picks but Thompson has good recent form, getting to the Surbiton semi-finals last week, and was a finalist here in 2019. He would have to get through Medvedev to make it to the final, but the Russian isn’t someone for Thompson to fear, especially early on in the grass season.
