Daniil Medvedev and Pablo Carreno-Busta will square off in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters 2021 in a rematch of the quarterfinal clash at the Tokyo Olympics a few weeks ago.
Medvedev has won 13 of his last 15 matches on grass and hard courts. He is currently on a seven-match winning streak, including back-to-back victories over McDonald and Dimitrov in the first two rounds here in Cincinnati.
Medvedev will be looking to get his revenge against Carreno-Busta after he lost against the Spaniard at the Tokyo Olympics a month ago. However, he put that disappointing defeat behind him by lifting a Masters title in Toronto last week.
Carreno-Busta has also enjoyed a strong run of form over the past month, having won eleven of her last twelve matches on clay and hard courts. During this run, Pablo did well to win the Hamburg Open on clay without losing a single set and also getting a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics after an impressive win over Novak Djokovic. Here in Cincinnati, Carreno-Busta managed to grab two consecutive straight victories over Koepfer and Hurkacz.
