ATP Doha Betting Tips and Predictions | Our Picks For This Week’s Tennis

The men take over the Doha sports complex this week after Iga Swiatek blazed a trail through the facility last week. But who is in contention to win the ATP Doha title?

ATP Doha, also known as the Qatar Exxonmobil Open (just in case anyone was unaware where the Emirates made their money), is played on a Plexicushion Prestige surface. As we saw last week with the women, the best players are comfortable on this surface and those with excellent movement are benefitting from it.

Roberto Bautista Agut is the defending champion and is in the draw this year as well. The Spaniard actually has an excellent record at this tournament having won it twice and reached the final on another occasion. In fact, the last two finals have featured the same players, Nikoloz Basilashvili facing RBA in those finals. The Georgian lost in qualifying to Liam Broady this year so there will be no threepeat.

ATP Doha Betting Tips

The trick here is to avoid Daniil Medvedev because on the form he showed in Rotterdam last week he should win this event as well. But it is always tough to back-to-back and the Russian is switching continents and conditions (indoors to outdoors) to play here. At a general 5/2 he is tough to tip but also tough to beat. Therefore I have attacked the opposite half.

Andy Murray 0.5pt EW @ 16/1 (Bet365)

Murray has wisely given his body plenty of time to recpver after his exertions in Australia. If he can reproduce the form he showed in defeating Matteo Berrettini, but finish matches off a bit quicker, then he actually has every chance of a deep run here.

Jiri Lehecka 0.5pt EW @ 20/1 (BetVictor)

The Czech is also using this as his comeback tournament after a good Australian Open. That would’ve been Lehecka’s biggest pay cheque in his career to date and hopefully it provides a big breakthrough for him. Again, if that form holds here then he has a decent opening match and then the chance to take on an Andrey Rublev, who despite a good record here, looked woefully short last week in Rotterdam.

Doha is a 28-man draw with 8 seeded players. The top four seeds all receive a bye to the second round.
