Novak Djokovic aims to maintain his perfect record against Hubert Hurkacz when they clash in the ATP Dubai Championships Quarter-Finals on Thursday.

The Serb has won each of his four previous meetings with the Pole, including a 6-3, 6-4 success at this stage of last year’s Madrid Masters.

Five-time Dubai Tennis Championship winner Djokovic will be confident of making it five wins from five as he looks to continue his perfect start to 2023.

Back at world number one for a record-breaking 378th week, the top seed is now 14-0 for the calendar year after defeating Tomas Machac in three sets, before wrapping up a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory over Tallon Griekspoor in just 82 minutes.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner has subsequently maintained his streak of reaching at least the quarter-finals in all 13 of his appearances at the ATP 500 event, where he boasts an impressive 45-7 record.

A sixth title this week would take him closer to Roger Federer’s record of eight triumphs, while it would also be his third silverware of the campaign having already been victorious in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Although, he was beaten by Jiri Vesely at this stage of last year’s event, and that will encourage Hurkacz in his quest for a maiden victory in the fixture.

The Pole certainly has momentum after claiming his first ATP title of the campaign – and the sixth of his career – in Marseille last weekend.

And the 26-year-old, who had reached the Last 16 in Melbourne and Rotterdam prior to that, has followed it up with wins over Alexander Shevchenko and Pavel Kotov.

A showdown with either Daniil Medvedev or Borna Coric awaits the winner in the Dubai Tennis Championship semi-finals.

The match gets underway at around 3pm GMT on Thursday and will be contested over the best of three sets.
