Having both won their opening group games, the winner of Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner will know that their passage to the semi-finals is secure. The group match takes place tomorrow (Tuesday) at 8pm.
Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner Prediction
The opening matches in the ATP Finals saw both of the group favourites win, but with varying degrees of comfort.
Sinner beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets, by a single break of serve in each. Indeed, the Italian didn’t face a break point on his own delivery all match. There were some excellent points in the match though, with Tsitsipas playing well at times, so Sinner certainly had to play at a good level to get the victory.
Djokovic had a very difficult task in the end last night. Holger Rune produced a really high level, especially in the second set tie-break, but Djokovic locked down again in set three and maintained his level and took his opportunities to break the Dane twice.
Based on those levels, and the form of Jannik Sinner in general, leads me to believe that Sinner has a chance of getting the better of Djokovic in the group stages. It is not win or bust for either man, and if this match-up occurred again later in the tournament there may be a different prediction, but Sinner could get a big win here.
