Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev will square off in the opening round of the Halle Open today at 13.00pm (UK Time).

The clay season is finally over for Karen Khachanov and he should be happy about that as he has struggled for performances on this surface over the past years. This year, Karen has won just five matches on clay with his best results being in Lyon where he managed to reach the Semifinals. Overall, Khachanov has reached four quarterfinals or better results on the main tour over the past six months of this year, but also failed to win in the opening rounds of in three of the last eight tournaments.

Meanwhile, Andrey Rublev looked pretty decent on clay recently, but he has been playing much better tennis in the first four months of the year. He actually reached seven quarterfinals in a row on the main tour prior to the Madrid Open. The bad news is that Rublev has failed to reach the third round of the Halle Open in each of his last three appearances. In addition, Rublev has lost four of his most recent six matches on grass.
