Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexei Popyrin will be facing each other in the 2nd round of the Paris Masters on Wednesday at 1.00pm (UK Time).
Stefanos Tsitsipas has suffered a few bad beatings over the past few months and here we can mention a couple of them. He lost to Krajinovic in Hamburg, to Humbert at the Tokyo Olympics, Opelka in Toronto, Alcaraz at the US Open, Basilashvili at the Indian Wells and most recently against Tiafoe in Vienna.
Tsitsipas has reached the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters in 2019, but his other two visits here in 2018 and 2020 ended in the second round.
Meanwhile, Alexei Popyrin has lost five and won five of his last ten matches on hard courts. Popyrin actually lost in qualifying stages for the Paris Masters, but he replaced Lloyd Harris in the main draw as a lucky loser. He looked impressive in the opening round against De Minaur, winning in under 1 hour 6-0, 6-3. His most notable performance in 2021 on hard courts was in Singapore where he managed to lift the title after a three-set win against Bublik.
