Pablo Carreno-Busta makes his 7th consecutive appearance in Winston Salem tonight with a clash against Soonwoo Kwon.
Pablo Carreno-Busta has enjoyed a good run of form recently, having won the biggest title of his career in an ATP 500 series in Hamburg last month. He followed this up with a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and reached the quarterfinals in Cincinnati Masters last week. The Winston-Salem tournament is one of the most successful events for Carreno-Busta, as he won the title here back in 2016 and also reached the semifinal and quarterfinal back in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
Soonwoo Kwon, on the other hand, managed to end a terrible three-match winless streak with a 2-0 victory over Radu Albot in the opening round of the Winston-Salem. This was actually his only 20th victory of the season and his first win in two months. Kwon’s most notable performance of the year was winning the Biella 2 Challenger back in February following a dominant victory over Musetti in the final.
