Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Marin Cilic will go head-to-head in the final of the 2022 ATP Tel Aviv Open on Sunday.
The pair have stormed through the field in the first edition of an ATP Tour event to be held in Tel Aviv since 1996.
Djokovic, who missed the recent US Open due to medical restrictions, has dropped to seventh in the ATP rankings but has coasted into his fourth final of the season as he chases his 89th career title.
The Serbian star, whose last hard court title came at the 2021 Paris Masters last November, eased past Pablo Andújar, Vasek Pospisil and Roman Safiullin without dropping a set en route to the final, but was taken to a tie break in the second set of his Semi-Final.
The 35-year-old, who claimed Wimbledon glory earlier this summer, is now 27 wins from 33 matches this season and is out to extend his dominant record over Cilic, having won 18 of their 20 previous meetings.
Cilic is chasing his maiden tour title of 2022, having recovered from a set down to defeat Dominic Thiem in his opener before receiving a walkover in the Quarter-Finals.
He then saw off France’s Constant Lestienne in straight sets in Saturday’s Semi-Finals and will now vie for his 21st tour-level crown.
The 34-year-old, world ranked 16, reached the Semi-Finals of this year’s French Open, as well as the Fourth Round of the Australian Open and US Open.
