Frances Tiafoe goes head to head with Gael Monfils on Thursday for a place in the Erste Bank Open quarter-finals in Vienna.

It promises to be an intriguing battle between two ATP tournaments winners this season.

Tiafoe has landed multiple silverware in 2023 following his triumphs at Houston and Stuttgart.

The world number 14 was also a semi-finalist at Indian Wells, while he got to the last eight at the US Open.

But Tiafoe arrived in Vienna on a five-match losing streak before ending that with victory over Daniel Evans in the opening round.

As for Monfils, he is full of momentum following his Nordic Open triumph last weekend.

After numerous injury problems, the veteran has enjoyed a resurgence this season and is back in the world’s top 100.

This is a close one to call, but the form book arguably swings it in Monfils’ favour.

This will be the third meeting between the players, who have shared a victory apiece in the head-to-head.
