Alexander Zverev and Laslo Djere face off in the final of the 2023 ATP Hamburg European Open on Sunday.

Home favourite Zverev is making his 31st appearance in an ATP final and is eyeing a first title since the ATP Finals in November 2021 and what would be a 20th in total.

The 26-year-old has continued his comeback from injury in impressive fashion this week at the event where he made a name for himself by reaching the Semi-Finals as a teenager.

Semi-finalist at the French Open in May, Zverev suffered a disappointing straight sets exit to Matteo Berrettini in the Third Round at Wimbledon but has enjoyed a welcome return to form in his homeland.

The number four seed has stormed into the final without dropping a set, powering past Alex Molcan, Maximilian Marterer, Luca Van Assche and Arthur Fils en route.

The Olympic gold medallist has lost his last two ATP finals but appears at his most comfortable on clay.

Djere has battled through to a fifth career ATP singles final and is eyeing a first title since October 2020.

The Serbian star, who has never been beyond the Third Round stage of a Grand Slam, has turned on the style to set up one of the biggest matches of his career to date.

The world number 57 has seen off Tomás Martín Etcheverry, Guido Pella, Lorenzo Musetti and Zhang Zhizhen and is targeting a first win over Zverev at the third time of asking.

The final gets underway from 2pm BST on Sunday and will be contested over the best of three sets.
