Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal will square off in an unmissable Semi-Final show-down at the 2022 Mexico Open on Saturday.
The pair met in one of the best final matches in Grand Slam history at the Australian Open only a month ago.
Medvedev will become the world number one in the ATP Rankings on Monday regardless of the outcome of this match, meaning that he is relieved of pressure and anything that he gets from here in Acapulco will be a bonus.
In fact, Medvedev will become the first non ‘big four’ player to reach the top spot in ATP Rankings since Andy Roddick back in 2004.
The Russian had a comfortable run in Acapulco so far this week, winning all three of his matches in straight sets while dropping just 15 games.
Medvedev has been one of the most in-form players in the past two years. However, this will be his first Semi-Final appearance in ATP 500 events since Washington 2019.
Nadal, on the other hand, is currently on a 14-match winning streak and is unbeaten in 2022 so far. He definitely has momentum on his side after winning his 21st Grand Slam at the Australian Open.
Similar to Medevev, Nadal has won all his three matches in Acapulco in straight sets and has only dropped 14 games in the process.
Furthermore, the Spaniard is a three-time former champion of ATP Mexico and he hasn’t lost a single set in his previous four Semi-Finals here.
That being said, these two are the most in-form players of the season so far and we can’t expect any other outcome than an intense battle. Therefore, our prediction is Over 2.5 Sets at odds of 5/4 with Bet365.
