Rafael Nadal of Spain will take on America’s Tommy Paul in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 Mexican Open on Friday.
Nadal has extended his winning streak to 13 matches after a comfortable straight sets victory over Kozlov in the previous round here in Mexico. It has been an amazing start of the season for the Spaniard who already won two titles.
In addition, Nadal is a three-time former champion of ATP Acapulco and he has never lost a match in the quarterfinals. He is now searching for a 91st career title, but if he wins this clash he might face Daniil Medvedev in the Semi-Finals.
Nadal has served very well in Acapulco this week and it seems that his game has been firing on all cylinders.
Meanwhile, Paul has also enjoyed a decent year so far, having registered 8 wins in his 12 matches on hard courts. After an impressive First Round win over fifth seed Matteo Berrettini, he followed that up with a deciding set defeat of Dusan Lajovic.
The American should feel confident ahead of this tie as he has already played three quarterfinal matches this year. His best result has been a Semi-Final appearance in the most recent tournament he competed in – Delray Beach Open.
In addition, with his performance this week, Paul has matched his 2020 best performance in Acapulco.
