Andy Murray aims to secure his first grass court title since 2016 when he faces world number ten Matteo Berrettini in the final of the BOSS Open in Stuttgart on Sunday.

Murray has made a dream start to the grass court season by reaching a final at the first time of asking, defeating a series of top class opposition along the way.

The 35-year-old made the headlines on Friday by registering his first win over a top-five player since 2016, knocking out Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6, 6-3.

He then overcame Aussie ace Nick Kyrgios 7-6, 6-2 in Saturday’s Semi-Finals to maintain his record of having not dropped a set so far this week.

Murray, who underwent career-saving hip surgery in 2019, is preparing for next week’s Cinch Championships at Queen’s Club before a return to Wimbledon later this month and has already played himself into a fine vein of form.

Now ranked world number 68, Murray has also defeated Christopher O’Connell and Alexander Bublik en route to the final and looks to be moving around the court with relative ease.

The Scot reached the final of the Sydney Classic at the beginning of the year but has not won an ATP Tour singles title since 2019.

The former world number one is chasing his ninth title on grass and a 47th career title and is out to avenge his defeat to Berrettini at Queen’s last year.

The Italian went on to win the title on that occasion and will hope that is a promising omen again here as he vies for a second ATP Stuttgart title in the last three stagings.

Berrettini has proved somewhat of a grass court specialist in recent years, finishing runner-up at Wimbledon last summer, while he began this season strongly by reaching the Semi-Finals of the Australian Open.

The five-time singles title winner has edged out Radu Albot and Lorenzo Sonego in deciding sets this week before overcoming Germany’s Oscar Otte in back-to-back tie breaks.

Murray and Berrettini have faced each other twice, firstly in 2019 – where the Brit prevailed in Beijing – before Berrettini levelled the head-to-heads thanks to his success at Queen’s in 2021.

The final is available to watch via a live stream on desktop, mobile or tablet devices from approximately 2pm BST.
