Alexei Popyrin v Stan Wawrinka live stream | ATP Umag Croatia Open Final Preview

Stan Wawrinka looks to end a six-year wait for an ATP title when he faces Alexei Popyrin in the final of the Croatia Open in Umag on Sunday.

Swiss veteran Wawrinka has rolled back the years to reach his first final on the ATP tour since October 2019 and is out to claim this title for the second time – a staggering 17 years on from his initial triumph.

The 38-year-old returned to the world’s top 100 earlier this year and is now up to world number 74 after recently reaching the Third Round of Wimbledon – only to be denied by his nemesis Novak Djokovic.

Wawrinka has proved there is plenty left in the tank, having coasted into the final in Croatia this week without dropping a set.

The three-time major winner, whose most recent ATP title came at the 2017 Geneva Open, has seen off Filip Misolic, Federico Coria, Roberto Carballes Baena and second seed Lorenzo Sonego along the way.

Standing in the way of Wawrinka and glory is Australian ace Popyrin – a player 15 years his junior.

The world number 91 is appearing in only his second ATP final, having picked up his maiden title at the 2021 Singapore Open.

Popyrin has reached the Third Round of the Australian Open on three occasions, including this season, but went on to suffer back-to-back First Round exits at the French Open and Wimbledon.

His run to the final this week has included wins over Benjamin Bonzi, third seed Sebastian Ofner, Dino Prižmić and seventh seed Matteo Arnaldi.

The final gets under way from 7pm BST and will be contested over the best of three sets.
