Cameron Norrie is aiming to reach the Queen’s Club Championship semi-finals when he faces Sebastian Korda on Friday.
The British number one is hoping to go the extra step this year at the long-running ATP 500 event, having been runner-up to Matteo Berrettini in 2021.
Norrie, who suffered first-round defeats on his other four appearances at Queen’s Club, has endured contrasting fortunes in reaching the last eight.
After beating Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets, he was forced to come from behind before eventually seeing off Jordan Thompson in the second round 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
A champion in Rio de Janeiro and runner-up in Buenos Aires and Auckland this season, Norrie is looking to go deep again as he looks to build momentum ahead of Wimbledon, where he reached the semi-finals 12 months ago.
The world number 13 prevailed in three sets on the way to lifting the trophy when he met Korda at this stage in Delray Beach last year, and will hope that serves as a positive omen this time around.
It will not be easy, though. The American has taken out Daniel Evans and fourth seed Frances Tiafoe without dropping a set to reach the last eight, and he is now two more wins away from reaching the first grass-court final of his career.
This is only Korda’s sixth tournament of a season hampered by a wrist injury. But the world number 32 has made great strides, nevertheless.
Runner-up in Adelaide, he then beat the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz en route to the Australian Open quarter-finals.
A showdown with either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or 2014 champion Grigor Dimitrov awaits the winner in the semi-finals.
Play gets underway at around 4pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Centre Court at Queen’s Club.
