Stefanos Tsitsipas looks to improve his recent form when he faces Botic Van de Zandschlup in the European Open last 16 on Thursday.

Though the top seed this week, Tsitsipas arrives in Antwerp seeking momentum after a disappointing spell on the ATP Tour.

The Greek made a purposeful start to the campaign by reaching the Australian Open final, while he was also a runner-up in Barcelona before claiming his first silverware of the year in Los Cabos.

But he has struggled to kick on from there – losing six of his subsequent 10 matches, while suffering early exits at the US Open, as well as in Cincinnati, Toronto and Shanghai.

That will encourage Van de Zandschlup who, himself, is looking for an upturn in fortunes after a tricky spell of form.

The Dutchman was a semi-finalist in Pune at the start of the year, while he was runner-up to Holger Rune in Munich three months later.

But despite that impressive run, the world number 67 has failed to progress beyond the last 32 of any event since then.

While Tsitsipas would be considered the favourite heading into the first ever meeting between the players, their inconsistent form of late will make for an intriguing contest.

The winner of this match will play either Dominic Thiem or Yannick Hanfmann in the European Open quarter-finals.

Play gets under way at around 6pm BST on Thursday and will be contested over the best of three sets at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp.
