Novak Djokovic and Pablo Carreno-Busta will square off in Tokyo Olympics on Saturday at 7.00am, with both aiming to win one medal for their countries.
Novak Djokovic’s goal of achieving the Golden Slam ended in the Semi-finals as he lost in three sets against Alexander Zverev. The Serb had won the first set 6-1 and even had a break in the second set, but uncharacteristically, he failed to convert this advantage. This loss against Zverev ended an unbelievable 22-match winning streak at all levels, including a nine-match winning run in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, Pablo Carreno-Busta has lost his battle with Karen Khachanov in straight sets, while winning just six games in the process. Regardless of this disappointing result, this is an excellent result for Pablo as he now has a great chance of winning a bronze medal for his country. This will be the second consecutive Olympics with a Spaniard in the last four players after Rafel Nadal’s defeat to Kei Nishikori in the battle for bronze back in Rio 2016.
