Dominic Thiem and Cameron Norrie will square off in the Round of 16 of the Lyon Open from 2pm BST on Thursday.
Thiem’s return from his injury break hasn’t been great, although he managed to reach the Semi-finals of the Madrid Open a fortnight ago where he couldn’t do anything against Alexander Zverev. His adventure in Rome ended early after losing against Lorenzo Sonego in the round of 16. Thiem is a former champion here in Lyon after winning the tournament back in 2018, which was his first appearance here.
Meanwhile, Cameron Norrie has had an impressive season on clay so far. Norrie has won eleven of his 14 matches on clay so far this season. His best performance during this run was reaching the Final in Estoril. He had a great chance of winning the trophy there, but he made a couple of mistakes in the decisive tie-breaker. He also reached the quarter-finals in Barcelona where he did well to beat Karen Khachanov and David Goffin.
Dominic Thiem is still struggling for consistency, while Cameron Norrie is having the best season on clay ever. We think that this clash will go Over 20.5 games at 5/6.
