This was Tsitsipas’ 6th Australian Open main draw and he was looking to win his maiden Grand Slam title.
Tsitsipas overcame his biggest test of the tournament so far when he beat Jannik Sinner in the fourth round, setting up a quarter final tie against Jiří Lehečka, a match where he entered as the heavy favourite.
He, indeed, won that match with relative ease and encountered Karen Khachanov in the semi-final, with the Greek player winning in four sets to set up a final with Novak Djokovic.
