Andy Murray is a five-time Australian Open finalist and has always produced some excellent tennis Down Under over the years. This year proved to be a step too far though with the Scot being eliminated in the third round.
The former World #1 had already seen off Matteo Berrettini and Thanasi Kokkinakis in exhausting five-set thrillers but he was beaten by Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets on Saturday.
The match showcase Murray’s spirit, particularly in the second set when he won a tie break to level things up. Those gruelling matches in the opening two rounds took their toll though and Murray wasn’t able to keep his performance levels high enough to see off his Spanish opponent.
