World number one Ashleigh Barty will face Madison Keys in the Semi-Finals of the 2022 Australian Open on Thursday.
Local favourite Barty has been in fantastic form here in Melbourne so far, having won each of her five matches without dropping a single set.
Barty has dropped just 17 games in the first five rounds, which includes a terrific performance in the quarterfinals against Jessica Pegula (6-2, 6-0).
Wimbledon champion Barty now holds a 9-0 win-loss record in 2022 with eight of these coming in straight sets and is bidding to become the first Australian woman to reach the final of the Australian Open since 1980. Her previous quest was in 2020 when she was stopped by eventual champion Sofia Kenin.
After a four-year wait, Keys is once again into a Grand Slam Semi-Final. The American has won 10 of her 11 matches on hard courts in 2022 and she is currently on a ten-match winning streak.
She has dropped just one set in five rounds at the Australian Open 2022 and comes fresh off a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Barbora Krejcikova in the Quarter-Finals.
The most impressive thing is that Keys has already equalled the same amount of wins this month (11) as her total wins in 2021.
