The 110th edition of the Australian Open, the 54rd in the Open Era, features singles, doubles and mixed doubles events on hard court surface across 25 courts.

This year’s Australian Open, part of the ATP Tour and WTA Tour, will take place from January 17-30 at Melbourne Park in Victoria.

Novak Djokovic is the reigning and record nine-time men’s singles champion, but will not be on-hand to defend his title after being deported from Australia due to visa issues.

Djokovic’s absence, as well as that of six-time champion Roger Federer, means there will be a new name on the trophy for the first time since 2014.

Daniil Medvedev is aiming to go one better than his runner-up spot last year, while 2009 champion Rafael Nadal returns to Grand Slam action for the first time since last year’s French Open.

The men’s field also features Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev and 2021 French Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Naomi Osaka is the defending and two-time women’s champion after defeating Jennifer Brady in last year’s final.

Osaka returns as the number 13 seed, having missed Wimbledon last year before competing in the US Open, while other former champions in action include Sofia Kenin, Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka.
