Andy Murray aims to roll back the years once again when he comes up against Thanasi Kokkinakis in the Second Round of the Australian Open on Thursday.

Murray produced a magnificent display to knock out 13th seed Matteo Berrettini in a marathon five-hour contest at Melbourne Park on Tuesday.

A stunning show of resilience from the 35-year-old saw him survive a match point before prevailing 10-6 in a fifth set tie break to seal a first victory over a top-20 opponent at a Grand Slam since 2017.

The three-time Grand Slam champion underwent hip surgery in 2019 which threatened to end his playing career, but appears to be enjoying a new lease of life on court.

A five-time Australian Open runner-up, Murray is through to the Second Round for the second successive year, having missed the tournament in 2018, 2020 and 2021.

After that gruelling test of endurance just 48 hours ago, Murray faces another tough ask against home favourite Kokkinakis – who cruised past Fabio Fognini for the combined loss of only five games in Round One.

The in-form Aussie was a semi-finalist at the Adelaide International 2 last week, defeating Andrey Rublev along the way.

He is now aiming to reach the Third Round of a major for the first time since the 2015 French Open.

The match gets under way from approximately 9.15am GMT and will be available to watch live online via the link below.

Either Roberto Bautista Agut or Brandon Holt will await the winner in the Third Round later in the week.
