Rafael Nadal will continue his bid for a record 21st Grand Slam title when he faces Adrian Mannarino in the Fourth Round of the 2022 Australian Open.
Mannarino started the year with back-to-back defeats in Melbourne Summer Set and Sydney, but looked like a completely different player here at the Australian Open.
The Frenchman has needed five sets to defeat Duckworth in the opening round, but then upset 10th seed Hurkacz in the second round. He followed this up with another impressive victory, beating the recent Sydney winner – Karatsev.
This is Mannarino’s best performance ever at the Australian Open and only the 4th time he has made it to the second week of a Grand Slam.
Meanwhile, Nadal has been struggling on the hard courts over the past two years, but he looked strong in Melbourne so far this year. The Spaniard is still searching for his 21st Grand Slam title and he really has a good opportunity to achieve that here in Melbourne.
Rafa is currently on a seven-match winning streak on hard courts, including three comfortable victories at the Australian Open.
Nadal has won in straight sets against Giron and Hanfmann in the first two rounds, but then dropped a set against Khachanov in the third round.
The Spaniard has only lost once in 14 appearances at the stage of the competition at the Australian Open.
Nadal should be able to win this matchup, but we also think that Mannarino can put some pressure on the Spaniard. Our prediction is Over 28.5 Games at odds of 7/10 with Bet365.
