Rising star Jannik Sinner will take on fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 Australian Open on Wednesday.
Sinner has extended his winning streak on hard courts to ten matches with a straight-set victory over Alex de Minaur on Monday. He has already won seven matches in 2022 and has only dropped one set in four matches here at the Australian Open.
Sinner, 20, is the youngest player to make two Quarter-Final appearances in Grand Slams since Nick Kyrgios (19) in 2015. The Italian is in great shape at the moment, but it has to be said that he has not played against a top-10 player since the start of the new year.
Meanwhile, Tsitsipas survived a scare in the previous round as he edged a five-set thriller against Taylor Fritz. The Greek star began his Australian Open campaign with a commanding straight-sets win over Mikael Ymer but has dropped a set in each of the previous three rounds.
Tsitsipas has won all his previous four Quarter-Final matches in Grand Slams, with two of those wins coming here at the Australian Open back in 2019 and 2021.
