Iga Swiatek resumes her quest for a maiden Australian Open crown against Camila Osorio in the second round on Wednesday.

The runaway world number one opens proceedings on Rod Laver Arena at the start of day three in Melbourne Park.

Swiatek enjoyed a hugely successful 2022 season in which she captured eight WTA titles, including the French Open and US Open, while winning a whopping 24 main-draw matches at grand slam events.

She also reached the semi-finals of this event, losing in straight sets to runner-up Danielle Collins.

The Pole is now aiming to become the first European player to win consecutively at Flushing Meadows and Melbourne Park since Kim Clijsters in 2011. Her mission began with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Wimbledon quarter-finalist Jule Niemeier.

The 21-year-old is looking to join Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Serena Williams and Justine Henin as one of only five players in the Open Era to land the Australian, French and US Open titles before turning 22.

The next obstacle she must overcome in her quest to do so is world number 84 Osorio.

A former WTA winner in Bogota, the Colombian is appearing in round two here for the first time after prevailing 6-4, 6-1 against Panna Udvardy.

Osorio has already claimed top-five victories over Elina Svitolina, Eugenie Bouchard and Sofia Kenin, but claiming the scalp of Swiatek would undoubtedly represent the biggest win of her career to date.

The winner of this match will play former Flushing Meadows champion Bianca Andreescu or Cristian Bucsa in the Australian Open third round.

Play gets underway at 12am GMT on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of three sets at the Rod Laver Arena.
