Marketa Vondrousova and Aryna Sabalenka will lock horns in the third round of the Australian Open 2022 on Saturday at 01.30am (UK Time).
Marketa Vondrousova has won three of her four matches on hard courts in this early part of 2022. After an unexpected loss against Konjuh at Adelaide, Marketa bounced back with two solid 2-0 wins over Hon and Samsonova.
Marketa had an amazing season on hard courts last year, with 29 of her 34 victories coming on this surface. The Czech player is used with the Grand Slam matches as she did well to reach the title round at the 2019 French Open.
Aryna Sabalenka, on the other hand, hasn’t been at her best of late, having lost six of her last 10 matches on hard courts. She did well to win the first two rounds at the Australian Open 2022, but dropped a set in each of those matches against mediocre opponents such as Sanders and Wang Xin.
Aryna’s main problem in this early part of the season is her serving and she already holds a negative record of 70 double faults in just four matches.
