The 2023 Citi Open takes centre stage in Washington and you can follow all the latest news, results and match schedule here.
Washington is the destination of the ATP/WTA 500, which takes place at William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center between July 31 and August 6.
Some of the best players in the world will be on display in the American capital as they step up their preparations for the US Open in a few weeks’ time.
Taylor Fritz headlines the men’s draw fresh from his triumph in Atlanta last weekend. The top seed will hope to land his first Washington title in the absence of reigning champion Nick Kyrgios, who defeated Yoshihito Nishioka in last year’s showpiece.
Fritz will be one of eight tournament winners from this season in action, along with the likes of Frances Tiafoe, Hubert Hurkacz, Christopher Eubanks and Tallon Griekspoor, as well as Alexander Bublik, Adrian Mannarino and Yibing Wu.
Kei Nishikori and Gael Monfils comprise the only previous champions in the draw, having triumphed in 2015 and 2016 respectively, while former finalists Mackenzie McDonald (2021) and Kevin Anderson (2017) are looking to go one better.
Some of the other seeds include Felix Auger-Aliassime, Grigor Dimitrov and Andy Murray, as well as home favourites Sebastian Korda and J.J. Wolf.
Meanwhile, 2019 champion Jessica Pegula is the top seed in the women’s draw. She is one of three former winners along with 2015 victor Sloane Stephens and reigning champion Liudmila Samsonova, who came from behind to beat Kaia Kanepi in last year’s final.
Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina and Belinda Bencic are among seven tournament winners from 2023 involved, while some of the other top seeds include Caroline Garcia, Madison Keys, Maria Sakkari and Daria Kasatkina.
Former grand slam winners Victoria Azarenka, Bianca Andreescu and Sofia Kenin are also worth keeping an eye out for, along with former major finalists Leylah Fernandez, Karolina Pliskova and Danielle Collins.
