Belinda Bencic v Coco Gauff live stream | Citi Open 2023 Quarter-Final Preview

Belinda Bencic and Coco Gauff go head to head in what promises to be a mouth-watering Citi Open quarter-final clash on Friday.

A place in the semi-finals of the WTA 500 is at stake as the third and sixth seeds lock horns in Washington.

Their only previous encounter went the distance, Bencic prevailing after three sets in their 2021 Adelaide International last-four showdown.

The Olympic gold medallist is targeting her third WTA title of the season, having already triumphed in Abu Dhabi and Adelaide.

Also a runner-up in Charleston, the Swiss recently reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, where she eventually succumbed to top seed Iga Swiatek despite winning the opening set.

And Bencic arrives in her quarter-final relatively fresh. Anastasia Potapova was forced to retire injured in the opening set of their first-round clash, while she was a commanding 6-1, 6-4 winner over Lauren Davis.

Having received a bye in round one, Gauff enjoyed a replica victory in the second round, denying compatriot Hailey Baptiste.

It has been a positive response by the teenager, who suffered a first-round exit at Wimbledon after losing to former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin.

A winner in Auckland at the start of 2023, she is now seeking her fourth semi-final of the season, having also reached the last four in Dubai and Eastbourne, while she was a quarter-finalist at the French Open in June.

The winner of this match will play either Liudmila Samsonova or Marta Kostyuk in the 2023 Citi Open semi-finals.

Play gets underway at around 12am BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Stadium Court.
