Liam Broady aims to launch another impressive run when he faces Corentin Moutet in the opening round of the Citi DC Open on Monday.
Earlier this month, Broady caused arguably the shock of the championships at Wimbledon as he stunned fourth seed Casper Ruud in the second round.
The likeable British wildcard was making his first appearance on Centre Court, and marked the occasion in remarkable fashion as he overturned a two sets to one deficit before dominant the decider for the biggest win of his career.
Broady would succumb to former semi-finalist Denis Shapovalov in the following round, but he certainly has plenty of momentum to build on as he sets his sights on securing a main-draw debut at the US Open in a few weeks’ time.
The first obstacle he must overcome in Washington is world number 80 Moutet, who reached the quarter-finals in Mallorca earlier this season.
Like Broady, the Frenchman claimed a notable scalp at Wimbledon – defeating veteran compatriot Richard Gasquet in straight sets – and the 24-year-old will eye similar results as he looks to continue climbing the ATP rankings.
The winner of this match will play 12th seed Tallon Griekspoor in the second round of the 2023 Citi DC Open.
Play gets underway at around 11pm BST on Monday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Court 5.
