Christopher Eubanks looks to build on his hot streak of form when he plays Jordan Thompson in the Citi Open second round.
The likeable American has won 12 of his last 14 matches, and is now aiming to reach his fourth quarter-final in as many events.
Eubanks enjoyed a fortnight to remember at Wimbledon, where he joined an exclusive group of male players including the likes of three-time champion John McEnroe to reach the last eight on debut.
Fresh from landing his maiden ATP title at Mallorca, he won many new fans with his attractive style of play while defeating British number one Cameron Norrie and earning his first career top-10 win against fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Despite eventually succumbing to Daniil Medvedev, Eubanks enjoyed another run to the quarters in Atlanta and, having received a bye through the opening round, defeated Sho Shimabukuro 6-3, 6-4 here.
Meanwhile, Thompson has overcome former finalist Kevin Anderson and Adrian Mannarino so far this week.
Like Eubanks, the Australian heads into the contest in decent form. Runner-up in s’Hertogenbosch, the Australian also reached the quarter-finals in Newport last time out.
The world number 71 has also lifted silverware this term, having claimed two Challenger Tour titles in Gwangju and Rome.
The winner of this match will play either Taylor Fritz or Andy Murray in the Citi Open quarter-finals.
Play gets underway at around 11pm BST on Thursday and will be contested over the best of three sets on John Harris Court.
