Hubert Hurkacz v Michael Mmoh live stream | Citi Open 2023 Preview

Hubert Hurkacz will aim to avoid becoming Michael Mmoh’s latest scalp when they lock horns in the Citi Open first round on Tuesday.

Fourth seed Hurkacz will be among the favourites to go all the way in Washington this week, but he opens with a potential banana skin against world number 112 Mmoh.

Indeed, the American has already beaten some big names on the ATP Tour this season.

First, he defeated former US Open finalist Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open, before overcoming Denis Shapovalov on the way to reaching the quarter-finals at Delray Beach – his best performance of the year so far.

Mmoh was then fortunate to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon as a lucky loser. Nevertheless, he fully capitalised on his unexpected opportunity by stunning 12th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the opening round.

And the 25-year-old, who beat compatriot Bradley Klahn in round one, would love to add Hurkacz to his list of scalps here.

The Pole arrives fresh from reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon, where he valiantly battled Novak Djokovic before eventually succumbing in four sets.

A winner in Marseille and semi-finalist in Stuttgart this season, Hurkacz also reached the quarter-finals in Dubai, though those represent his only ventures beyond the last 16 in 2023.

However, he will definitely sense an opportunity to go deep this week.

The winner of this match will play either 16th seed J.J. Wolf or Radu Albot in the last 16 of the 2023 Citi Open.

Play gets underway at around 9pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of three sets on John Harris Court.
