Jessica Pegula v Elina Svitolina live stream | Citi Open 2023 Quarter-Final Preview

Elina Svitolina aims to maintain her strong recent form when she plays Jessica Pegula in the Citi Open quarter-finals on Friday.

It promises to be a mouth-watering encounter between the top seed and arguably the form player on the WTA Tour, with a potential showdown against Maria Sakkari or Madison Keys on offer to the winner.

Svitolina has well and truly hit the ground running since her return from maternity leave, and arrives in this clash having recorded 16 wins from her last 19 matches.

A winner in Strasbourg – and semi and quarter-finalist at Wimbledon and French Open respectively – the Ukrainian has built on her momentum this week with two more notable victories without dropping a set.

First, she registered her second win over Victoria Azarenka in the space of a few weeks, before extending her winning streak over Daria Kasatkina to eight matches with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 success.

However, Svitolina now faces a player that has prevailed in two of their three previous meetings, including their most high-profile at the Australian Open and Indian Wells in 2021.

Pegula is also in decent form. Indeed, this is her third successive quarter-final – also reaching this stage at Eastbourne and Wimbledon, where she surrendered a 4-1 lead in the deciding set of her defeat to eventual champion Marketa Vondrousova.

But the Doha runner-up, who beat fellow American Peyton Stearns 6-3, 6-4 in the second round, will now be eager to go one better and reach her fourth WTA semi-final of the campaign, having also made the last four in Miami and Dubai.

Play gets underway at 5pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Stadium Court.
