Carlos Alcaraz v Taro Daniel live stream with Bet365 | French Open 2023 preview

Carlos Alcaraz continues his bid for a first French Open title against Japan’s Taro Daniel at Roland Garros on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old Spaniard is the top seed at a grand slam for the first time in his career, and the youngest at the season’s second major since Bjorn Borg in 1976.

Alcaraz has enjoyed a brilliant clay-court season thus far – landing silverware in Madrid, Barcelona and Buenos Aires to add to his triumph at Indian Wells.

And the world number one continued that momentum in the opening round, taking just shy of two hours to put debutant Flavio Cobolli to the sword 6-0, 6-2, 7-5.

A heavy favourite to go all the way at Roland Garros, where he was beaten by Alexander Zverev in last year’s quarter-finals, Alcaraz will also fancy overcoming world number 112 Daniel without too many difficulties.

Although, he did recently suffer a surprise defeat against world number 135 Fabian Marozsan in Rome, and that will encourage the Japanese player as he looks to reach round three here for the first time.

Daniel has already claimed notable scalps this season. Indeed, he earned the first top-10 win of his career by beating Casper Ruud on the way to reaching the quarter-finals in Acapulco, while also defeating Zverev in Miami.

He would definitely love to get another here and has momentum after overcoming Christopher O’Connell 6-0, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the French Open second round for the third time in six appearances.

The winner of this match will play either 26th seed Denis Shapovalov or Matteo Arnaldi in the third round at the 2023 French Open.

Play gets underway at around 3pm BST on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier at Roland Garros.
