Rafael Nadal will be looking for a third consecutive 3-0 victory when he takes on Botic Van de Zandschulp on Friday at 1.00 pm (UK Time) in the 3rd round of the French Open 2022.
Botic Van de Zandschulp looked decent on the clay courts prior to the French Open 2022, having won a couple of matches in Munich, Madrid and Rome. His best performance was in Munich where he was forced to retire due to an injury in the final.
Van de Zandschulp has already registered his best result at the French Open after beating the likes of Kotov and Fogninin in the opening two rounds.
The Dutch player has a solid serve, but I’m not sure this will be enough to deal with Rafa’s intense gameplay.
On the flip side, Rafael Nadal has struggled for consistency in Madrid and Rome, but looked solid in the first two rounds of the French Open 2022. Rafa defeated the likes of Thompson and Moutet without dropping a single set in the process.
Despite his recent struggles prior to the French Open, Rafa is still by far the most successful player in the history of this tournament. He has never lost a 3rd-round match on the Parisian clay and has won the title on 13 occasions.
