But reigning US Open champion Alcaraz, who was also victorious at Indian Wells, did endure something of a reality check recently following his shock third-round defeat by world number 135 Fabian Marozsan in Rome.

Nevertheless, the Spaniard remains among the heavy favourites to go all the way in Paris, where his first-round opponent is yet to be determined.
