Novak Djokovic will be looking for a seventh consecutive win when he takes on Alex Molcan on Wednesday in the Second Round of the 2022 French Open.
Djokovic has recently won the title in Rome in a dominant fashion by not losing a single set in five matches. The Serb kicked off his French Open 2022 campaign in a similar manner by defeating Nishioka in the opening round while dropping just four games.
Djokovic was denied a chance to fight for his 21st Grand Slam title in the Australian Open a couple of months ago, but he now has an opportunity to get his 21st in Paris.
Djokovic hasn’t been knocked out before the quarterfinal stage of the French Open since 2009 and the single time when he failed in the second round in Paris was during his debut campaign back in 2005.
Molcan, on the other hand, had a solid run in Lyon a week ago where he managed to reach the final. He put in a fighting performance against Norrie in that final, but it wasn’t enough for him to lift the title.
Overall, Alex Molcan has won 15 of his 23 matches this season while reaching the final of two tournaments.
Molcan began his French Open 2022 adventure with a 3-1 victory over Federico Coria. This is impressive for Molcan given the fact that this is his debut campaign at the French Open.
