Harriet Dart broke a difficult losing streak in her opening qualifier and will hope to build on that to get a step closer to the main draw at Roland Garros.

It took almost 2 and a half hours and three sets, but Dart got over the line against Katrina Scott to record her first clay court victory of the season. Ultimately, it was Dart’s solidity on serve that really helped her when it mattered in the final set of that match.

Jacquemot is only 20 but has also struggled for match wins recently. The difference is that the Frenchwoman has been playing at a higher level and losing to better players than Dart. She also has a much stronger history on clay as well having been brought up on the dirt a lot more than the British player.

Indeed, Dart’s win yesterday was her first on clay since 2021, which was in this same qualification tournament. That year, Dart reached round three of qualifying, it would be a surprise if she progressed to that round on this occasion.

The match gets under way from around 1pm BST on Wednesday May 24.
